Meet the family
We are the Kennellys, and our family runs every aspect of Diamond Vineyards and Diamond in the Rough Ranch. Native Texans, and after many adventures and moves around the world, we are finally home in the heart of Texas.
We purchased the Diamond in Rough Ranch in 2003. The 100-acre ranch includes a wildlife preserve and twelve acres of Hill Country AVA/ Fredericksburg AVA grapes. We spent the first decade of ranch ownership, in between military moves, personally clearing the property for all development. We began planting the vineyards in 2018 and our final planting was completed in 2022. With each harvest, we expand our wine offerings debuting Diamond Vineyards’ 1st release in Spring 2023 . We are the only entirely estate winery in Fredericksburg. That means that we only make wine from the fruit we grow. No buying grapes - and no selling them either! We grow Tempranillo, Tannat, and Mourvèdre; all of which are red wine grapes that are strong in character and have great age ability.
The team includes my sons, Ransom Kennelly, Vineyard Manager, and Colton Kennelly, Wildlife Consultant, and myself, Lisa Kennelly, Sommelier turned Rancher turned Viticulturist, now making wine. Our passion for our ranch and our wines is irrepressible - and contagious. A visit to the estate guarantees you a glimpse on our perspective on wine, land and family that drive us every day.
Around the vineyard you may also catch glimpses of Carbon (our dog - the real diamond in the rough), our Indian runner Diamond Ducks, and our pest control team of cats: Magic, Jinx, and Luna.
Diamond Vineyards requires “signed-for” shipment which means customers must verify their age and show a form of ID upon delivery.
